NORTHWEST SINFONIETTA

Announces auditions for

Section Violin

Position effective for the 2018/19 Season

One-page resume must be received on or before March 30, 2018

All audition rounds to be held Friday April 20, 2018 in Tacoma, WA.

About the orchestra:  Founded in 1991 by harpsichordist Kathryn Habedank and conductor Christophe Chagnard, Northwest Sinfonietta (NWS) is the premier professional chamber orchestra of the greater Seattle-Tacoma area.  Our mission is to inspire people through music and invigorate the concert experience.  The orchestra performs regular season concerts in venues throughout Seattle, Tacoma, Puyallup, and beyond.

As one of only a few orchestras worldwide with an Artistic Partner leadership model, the ensemble collaborates with partner conductors over multiple seasons.  The artistic mission of the ensemble is designed and developed in tandem with these partners, the CEO, and orchestra members, represented by an Artistic Vision and Artistic Personnel committee.  As of the 2016-17 season the orchestra’s repertoire has grown to include unconducted concerts led by NWS Co-concertmasters and principal players from the ensemble.  Members are encouraged to actively participate in promoting the artistic growth and vitality of the organization.

About the position:   NWS is a per-service orchestra, with rehearsals during daytime hours the week of each concert performance.  Compensation and working conditions are defined by a Master Agreement negotiated with an Orchestra Committee of three representatives elected by NWS members.

For the 2017-18 season, section player pay was $127.50 per service, and section string players averaged 36 services during the season.

The NWS violin sections rotate, with all section players moving between the first and second violin sections.  Anyone accepting this position will need to be prepared to perform in either section depending on the rotation and mix of members and substitute players at any given concert cycle.

If offered employment for this position, you must be prepared to show your eligibility to work in the United States no later than September 20, 2018.  If you are not authorized to work in the U.S., Northwest Sinfonietta can not assist with obtaining the necessary visa or authorization, or the cost of doing so.

The following list represents all materials which could be requested in any round of audition.  The committee reserves the chance to request sight-reading in any round of the audition.  This list is subject to change.
